I don't think I've ever quite appreciated how useful having a Deviantart account can be until now.
A few days ago my laptop's hard drive got wrecked, and with it every last document I'd ever stored on it. Ironically I'd been asking about cheap back-up methods only a few weeks before, but in the way that I do pushed the task aside 'for later.' Now my chances of recovering old work lie solely on my old email habits.
And Deviantart ones, too.
I am so grateful now that I uploaded (and left!) so much of my old writing up in my gallery. I've found pieces I completely forgot about, but would have sorely missed, I'm sure, once I had noted their lo

It is really quite frustrating to not be able to draw anything, ever, the way I want to.
I am infuriated over my limitations. I can't even master a cartoon style of my own. It's really quite pathetic.
But I don't have the patience or the dedication to get any better. argh.

hey i hope u don't mind but i *might* be drawing a picture of nevermore? i'm wanting to draw something but tired of colouring the two pictures i was, and i've always really loved her design and concept (i love that poem in general though, i have a dress from modcloth based on it!) and... well, nostalgia. i'm not making any promises, but i'm totally feeling it, so if i go ahead and do it before you can respond, i hope you're OK with that love

and i'm flattered you took it with you throughout high school, haha. that's the second time my work has been out in the real world far from here. the other time was when a friend of mine was in class and apparently everyone was crowded around a computer saying how "good" something was, and she looked and it turned out to be a drawing of mine they were looking at! these are the things i will always remember.
